Manual Photography Workshop

Mastering Flash Photography

Flash Photography is one of the core foundations of photography. Mastering flash is a requirement for truly gaining control over lighting and exposure. 90% of photographers are afraid of their flash. Using flash should not be scary. In this hands-on class you'll become one with your flash and learn to take control of your photography.
Prerequisite: You must have an external flash unit for your camera in this class. Recommended models are Canon: 580EX,430EZ. Nikon: SB900, SB800, SB700, SB600. Pentax AF540, AF360. Olympus: 50R, 36R. Sony: F58, F43.

Introduction to Studio Lighting
1-Saturday, February 25th, 2012, 9:30am - 5:00pm - $145 Open
Working in a professional photography studio is a great way to really learn about light and for learning to control it. This is a very hands-on workshop. We'll be shooting portraits and still lifes as our practice. You'll be learning to operate and use high-power studio strobes, flash meters, hot lights and so on. If you've ever wanted to or needed to use a studio, but the costs of creating your own was too high, this class certifies you to rent the studio in the future. The studio we use for this class is one of largest, most complete and wonderful studios in Oregon.
Prerequisite: Good understanding photography and command of manual operation of your camera. A DSLR camera.

Depth-of-Field Workshop

2-Tuesdays, March 6th & 13th, 2012, 6:00pm - 9:00pm - $75 Open
Depth-of-field is one of the core foundations of photography. Mastering depth-of-field (what is in focus) is a requirement for mastering photography itself. In this workshop we'll cover the key concepts that control depth-of-field, as well as the means of measuring and calculating DOF. When we're done, you'll be thinking about photography in a whole new way, opening up your possibilies and ultimately getting closer to you want.

Macro Photography
2-Thursdays, March 22nd & 29th, 2012, 9:00am - 12:00pm - $75 Open
Macro, or close-up, photography is just cool. It allows you to see and show things in a completely new way. Unfortunately, when working up close, the traditional rules and processes don't always work in your favor. In this hands-on class, you learn what it takes to do great and consistant close-up photography. We'll look at lenses, depth-of-field, filters, lighting and macro accessories.
